There are times when something happens in your life that just knocks you to your knees and causes you to put what you love most on the back burner. One day passes then another and before you know it, an entire month has passed by. I have recently had such an experience and it has caused me to set my daily painting on the back burner which doesn't really make much sense because painting is what really "takes me away from it all". I needed to get away and was offered a weekend stay at a resort in the Shenandoah mountains with my in laws. That was just what the doctor ordered! The scenery was breath taking and a beautiful subject for painting could be found in any direction you looked.
This painting is of the setting sun on Lake Isaac in Gordonsville, Va. It's a special painting to me because when I look at it, I can feel myself coming out of the depressing darkness I had been feeling at the time, and refilling that space with the beautiful colors found all around me.
